Who benefits the most from welfare in the United States? If your answer is "African-Americans" then you are wrong.
The truth is that all of Red America is collectively one huge, all-encompassing welfare state. And the numbers simply do not lie.
If you live in a Red state, then pick your home. The chances are that for every dollar in taxes your fellow conservatives pay, they receive several dollars in Federal spending.
The worst states are of course in the Deep South, where upwards of five times more is received from Uncle Sam than is contributed into the nation's coffers. But in truth, it is a countrywide problem, with even Midwestern regions from Arizona to North Dakota sucking from the Federal Government's inexhaustible teat.
So where is all of this money going? In short: everywhere. Roads, bridges, schools, fire stations, police departments, energy grids... basically all of society. And it has been this way for so long that now the spigot cannot be turned off without causing massive social upheaval.
A lot of conservative Americans love to hate socialism. But what is Communism's mantra? "From he who has the greatest ability, to he who has the greatest need." Hmmm... Remind you of anyone?
I'm not here to judge people who benefit more from humanity than they contribute. I too hate paying taxes. But I would point out that, in the end, after all has been said and done, each of us will be our own harshest critics. And comfortably accepting what has become one of the largest transfers of wealth in all of human history will not ultimately go unnoticed by the powers that be.
