I intend here to both explain and come to the defense of Fox News, because truth be told, they are not the puppet masters that they are made out to be.
To begin with, we must investigate why Fox News generates the often-questionable content that they present as facts. Because contrary to popular opinion, they do not have as much of a choice in the matter as they are portrayed as having.
Everything Fox News reports on, from their pseudo-factual content, to the fury-laced opinions their ideologues disseminate, is tailored with only one demographic in mind: their audience. These are people who tune in for but one reason, and that is to be lied to.
It is Fox News viewers who dictate the company's policies. If they like what they see when they tune in, they keep watching. And if they disapprove, they stop watching. At their worst, they complain publicly about a piece they disapprove of, and Fox News loses both their patronage, as well as that of anyone they successfully proselytize.
This is a key realization for those who oppose conservative news outlets, because it means that the talking faces you see on television are not the real enemy. They may be greedy nihilists, but that is the extent of their culpability. And if any one of them were to be taken down, another similar personality would quickly take their place.
In fact, not even the executives who determine the content of Fox News are truly at fault. For if they were to one day grow a conscience, and report with greater integrity, it would mean the death of their company, as their coveted viewership would simply tune into whichever news channel took their place at the altar of self-deception.
So you see, conservative reporters are not quite so worthy of disdain. They are just figureheads. The true enemies are those out there who are willfully ignorant, and proud of it. And unfortunately, changing their minds is for all intents and purposes a lost cause. One can only really wait or their self-destructive beliefs to doom them.
