I told this to Hillary Clinton supporters in 2016, and I will tell it to Donald Trump supporters today.
Politics is synonymous with cheating. It is by far the dirtiest, ugliest business around. So if you are upset over losing to a cheater, you would likely not make a very good or effective politician. Try horticulture instead, or perhaps farming, or knitting, or even poetry. Try any discipline except for politics.
In other words, think of it this way: the President of Russia cheats. The Chairman of China cheats. All of our allies, and all of our enemies, cheat as a matter of principle. So if you cannot defeat a cheater in a national campaign, how can you hope to represent your country or your people in international politics?
I know this is a difficult lesson to learn, and you can rest assured that it is an equally difficult lesson to teach. But is it the truth. Politics is not a realm where saints are made, nor should it ever be treated as one.
