I've been asked over the years why I don't protest against the government. My response is simple: I DO protest, but not in the way that many are accustomed to.
For some people, just choosing to get out of bed every day is a form of protest. Choosing to leave the house is a form of protest. Choosing to go about your daily lives like a normal human being is a form of protest. It is protest against the forces of this world which would have you completely and utterly destroyed, mind, body and soul. When you're someone like me, it doesn't take much to protest against such forces of oppression, which assail you like torrential rain the minute you step outside your door. You don't need to march, or to shout, or even to so much as raise your voice. Simple survival is all you must do to demonstrate stubborn noncompliance with your oppressors' demands.
It's sad that life is this way for some people. But it is. And I will continue this simple act of defiance called "living" for as long as I am able. Only when I am ready to die will I attend what most would call a "protest", because it will be such a temptation of fate that I would expect no other outcome.
